So unfortunately, the softball game was canceled this evening. Nonetheless, today was a big day! From the beginning, interns understood that we were expected to ask for at least 3 reviews from the people on our engagement teams by the end of the internship. Therefore, after I ended my engagement with my first assignment, I asked my peer advisor and my senior to each write a review for me about my work with them.
Today, I got both my reviews back, and they were good!
It is rewarding to be acknowledged for hard work. And I've learned that it's unlike the "rewarding" feeling that you get after a good grade in a class, because the reviews are a subjective, personal testament for your professional performance. Having a grade on a paper is different compared to a written statement saying that you did a good job, took directions well, and had a positive attitude. Especially in such a short period of time, the review process has definitely been a helpful tool. It has allowed me to look back and evaluate my work from another person's perspective.
Countdown begins until Orlando: exactly 2 weeks away! In the meantime, I have lots to do:
1. Continue to work hard
2. Learn more
3. Get another review
4. Go to the intern events
5. And of course, play another game with the softball team
