Today, I learned that it was my last day at my first client site.
After a wonderful 2.5 week engagement, I've come to enjoy the client, the
work, and my team! It has been a great run, and I've definitely learned
a lot from my first tax provision experience. Now, I'm off to my next
assignment. Starting tomorrow, I will be working on a state amended
return. While the tax provision gave me an opportunity to learn about
taxes from the financial statement perspective, the return will give me
an opportunity to learn more about tax through an IRS perspective. I'm
loving the change and diversified experience!
Time definitely flies...Just around this time last year, I was
participating in summer leadership programs with the big four
accounting firms, wishing to be in the interns' places. Today, we had
a bowling event with fellow interns, EY professionals, and Summer
Leadership Program (SLP) participants. As I was working the bowling
alley, I remembered being in the participants shoes, and I realized I
haven't changed that much at all...I still want to meet all the
professionals, learn as much as possible, and just have a good time.
Today at the bowling event, I did the same thing. I met new people and
was reacquainted with my SLP friends and professionals.
Still, there was a difference: I found that I was talking to the
professionals as colleagues, and it was refreshing to be able to relate
to them in that way! As an intern, you get a sense of the community,
and in essence, you become part of it. It's amazing that in only my
fourth week at EY, I feel like I belong.
And I'm liking that feeling.
