Inside an Internship - BDO

My name is Rebekah Calverley and I am a sophomore at Rowan University. I am a double major in Accounting and Finance and am involved in several organizations through the Rohrer College of Business. I enjoy singing and am a member of the Rowan Woman's Choir. In addition I love to travel and this summer have managed to receive an internship at BDOs in Invercargill, New Zealand...a couple hours south of where I was born in Auckland.  My family and I have often traveled back to visit family and friends we still have living there but I have never made the trip on my own.

On June 13th I left Newark International Airport and said goodbye to my parents and sisters. Several hours later my friend picked me up at the domestic terminal in LA and drove me around to the International terminal to catch my flight to Auckland, New Zealand. My flight was running several minutes late and by the time I had gotten through security (twice due to problems with bags) I was cutting it close to be at my gate, the last one in the terminal, before they began boarding. I did make it on time however and at 5.35am on Wednesday the 15th I arrived in Auckland and was greeted by my oldest friend as I came through customs. After all those hours of traveling I can't tell you how good it is to see a familiar face, especially when you are in a country very far from the one in which you live.

That Sunday, after several days of slowly acclimatizing, I arrived at my final destination at the very bottom of the South Island. I was greeted by my grandmother, who I am living with for the 6 weeks of my internship, and my uncle. After getting home and getting unpacked I was exhausted. Looking forward to my first day at work it didnt take long that night for me to fall asleep...despite my jetlag.
