Last week, there was a
lively discussion on the NJSCPA Connect Open Forum about whether all New Jersey partnership returns (Form NJ-1065) must be filed by electronic means. Members shared opinions and relayed conversations with the NJ Division of Taxation, until the Division posted a
definitive statement on Friday, January 27. That statement was shared on the Open Forum by NJSCPA member
James McLaughlin and later added to the Society's
website.
The Form NJ-1065 thread is the latest example of how NJSCPA members can utilize the
Open Forum to get answers to questions on tax, accounting, running an accounting practice or another topic. All NJSCPA members are subscribed to the NJSCPA Member Open Forum on NJSCPA Connect, the Society's online community. When you post a question to the Open Forum, your message will be sent to more than 13,000 NJSCPA members who will have the option to reply directly to you or to the entire group. Not sure how to post a question?

Since the Open Forum was launched in fall 2010, Society members have posted 2,138 messages and uploaded 77 files, making it by far the NJSCPA's most popular means of member-to-member communication. But it certainly is not the only ways New Jersey CPAs communicate virtually.
NJSCPA members have also been known to turn to their peers on the Society's
LinkedIn and
Facebook groups for answers to questions about continuing education credits, the CPA Exam, the IRS and the NJ State Board of Accountancy. And the questions aren't always technical. One member turned to our social media pages for help finding an apartment closer to a new job and our followers responded with a host of suggestions.
So, got a question? NJSCPA members might just have the answer.
