Community Service

As I said last week, I have been very busy with the P2P transition at Lockheed.  This week I have been even busier.  As we are approaching go-live, which is when the system goes active on August 23, the training classes are also fast approaching.  Many of the thousands of users across the country who use SAP for Accounts Payable and Procurement have been correctly mapped to their new roles in P2P.  But there are hundreds out there who have not.  These users are beginning to notice that as we get closer to go-live, they are not seeing any new training for them and will not have access to the system and will therefore not be able to perform their jobs.  Each day, countless emails come to our resource account, which I monitor, with questions about the process and training courses and roles.  Then I need to determine what role they need to have based on their job duties, contact someone downstairs to give them security access, and then add the required courses to their learning plan.  I also was tasked with running reports in the system to determine the statistics on these courses.

This has been occupying most of my time at Lockheed, but I still must make time to perform my other constant job duties.  Each week I still run a report for billing that ranks all of the tickets that come through the help desk. I still reconcile invoices for the billing team each day and report on my findings.  I also continue to log into Remedy to assign tickets to each of the different functional groups.

Also in my spare time at Lockheed I have been planning several events.  The first is in August.  This event is run through the Health and Wellness Organization at Lockheed Martin.  The Cherry Hill facility will be hosting this event, called the Biometric Health Screenings, which will run various health tests on employees in the building.  This event has already expanded to a second day. I will discuss this more in the upcoming weeks.

The second event I have been planning is our second annual BBQ’n for Books! Lockheed Martin places a big emphasis on community service and giving back. The FLDP’s (Financial Leadership Development Program) run a service event once a month. Since interns are in the office over the summer, we volunteer to organize the summer service activities.  Tomorrow, we are continuing a service event we started last year.  Employees are encouraged to bring in new or gently used books in exchange for a grilled hot dog.  Last year over 400 books were donated.  This year the books we collect will be donated to hospitals, nursing homes, and children’s centers. We’re hoping for another success!

Thanks for reading!
