Was your business prepared for Hurricane Sandy?

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, business owners are realizing the importance of cloud applications, disaster recovery plans, and business interruption insurance.  Businesses that are going to the Cloud and have a disaster recovery plan can reduce their exposure to any delays in productivity in the event of a disaster occurring.  Business owners should review the parameters of their current insurance policy for business interruption coverage.  As an alternative to cloud computing, companies can consider using a hosted environment where the business network servers and software applications are maintained off-site.

The Technology Interest Group will be giving a webinar on disaster recovery plans on February 5, 2013 and on mobile devices on January 10, 2013 which will help prepare your business in the event of a disaster

I came to really appreciate the value of having an entirely cloud-based business this past week as my home and office were destroyed by flood. The business was entirely unaffected. Ironically, the primary disruption to my business was the time I voluntarily spent helping others who were not so fortunate. I expect to use my story in the future to convince clients of the importance of disaster planning; a movable cloud-based business and having secure online records always available.
