NJSCPA Launches Issues Watch – and Offers Free CPE

Whenever the NJSCPA conducts a membership survey, receiving “professional news and updates” from the Society is always listed as one of the top reasons CPAs renew their memberships. For many years, we provided you with that news through traditional means – magazine, emails (and lots of them) and in-person presentations – and more recently through texts, videos and social media.

I’m proud to announce that we’re bringing all those tools together, and introducing some new programs, in a new package called “Issues Watch”. Here’s what Issues Watch will include:

  • Issues Watch with Ralph Thomas - live quarterly updates from me and a guest speaker on issues that impact CPAs and financial professionals. Topics for these webcasts include macro trends in business, the profession and the economy as well as legislative and regulatory changes and their implications. Registration is FREE for NJSCPA members and each update includes one CPE credit.

The first session is scheduled for Friday, March 21, 9-10am. Each broadcast includes live Q&A with attendees.

  • Issues Watch Update – Short videos about breaking professional news in New Jersey or the profession posted to the NJSCPA YouTube Channel and included in the Society’s new e-newsletter, NJCPA Pulse.

  • Issues Watch Face-to-Face – Traditional one- and two-hour, in-person CPE presentations at firms and companies, covering regulatory and legislative news, a NJ State Board update and more.

  • Issues Watch Extra – Interviews with professional and industry experts, as well as live and recorded videos from major NJSCPA events

  • Issues Watch Blog – I’ll cover the profession, the state and the Society.

We’ll supplement these tools with social media posts, and articles in New Jersey CPA magazine and NJCPA Pulse. I hope that you’ll join me in this new venture by posting questions and comments as we go.
