Is Your Mailing Address Current?

One of the most common CPA license renewal problems that the NJSCPA hears about is CPAs not receiving the license renewal information from the State Board of Accountancy. Why? Because they didn't update their address of record with the State Board.

While license renewal is done online, the State Board mails you information detailing its procedure on how to renew your license. If the State Board does not have your current mailing address, that information will not follow you to your new address, even if the post office is forwarding your mail.

Technically, licensees must notify the Board by mail or electronically no later than 30 days following a change of address of record. But at this time I won't get into the potential penalties for failing to report a change of address.

If you moved or changed your address in the past three years, please immediately inform the State Board of your new contact information.

How can you contact the N.J. State Board of Accountancy? Inquiries or concerns can be addressed to: N.J. State Board of Accountancy, P.O. Box 45000, Newark, NJ 07101; 973-504-6380. The Board's website is located at www.state.nj.us/lps/ca/accountancy.

License renewal information is due to licensees no later than 60 days before the end of the triennial, which means you should receive the State Board's mailing sometime around November 2. So, time is of the essence.

Please make sure that your address with the State Board is current.
