On May 31, the NJ CPA Month of Service came to an end. Organized by the New Jersey Society of CPAs, the first annual volunteer service program represents the CPA profession's ongoing commitment to serving the communities where its professionals live and work. CPAs from 18 firms across the Garden State, as well as NJSCPA staff, volunteered for a whole day or a few hours at locations encompassing a variety of organizations. CPAs raised money, collected shoes and food, painted classrooms, read to children, sent care packages to the troops, and much more. Here are some highlights:

• Members and supporters of the Society's Southwest Jersey Chapter participated in the 10th annual Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon on May 21 at Playdrome in Cherry Hill. More than 30 bowlers raised $4,600+ for financial literacy education.
• Staff at Hill, Barth & King LLC raised $2,800 for the Chron’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
• 30 staff from Alloy Silverstein helped move more than 30,000 pounds of food at the Food Bank of South Jersey on May 29.
• Bedard, Kurowicki & Co., CPA’s (BKC) collected 127 pairs of shoes for Soles4Souls.
• WithumSmith+Brown's “Team Withum” was created to walk in support of March of Dimes “March for Babies” on May 4, with the firm raising $1,500.
• Staff at CohnReznick LLP helped paint classrooms at the Morristown Neighborhood House on May 3.
• NJSCPA members and staff volunteered at The Community FoodBank of New Jersey on May 20.
• Smolin Lupin & Co., P.A. organized a food drive for the InterFaith Food Pantry in Morris Plains.
• Untracht Early got a head start on the Month of Service by participating in the Dress for Success of Morris County’s 8th Annual Live/Silent Auction Gala on April 24.
